Michael Lawrence McManus, 67, of East Amherst entered into rest early Saturday morning September 5, 2020. He was born from loving parents Lawrence Joseph McManus and Wilmena Arnolene McManus (Stone). He is survived by his 9 children. Brenda Cady (McManus) and her husband Joel, Christopher McManus, Janet Morris (McManus) and her husband Jeff, Patricia Testa (McManus) and her husband Al, Patty Jo Turner, Mary Dittenhauser (McManus) and her husband Steve, Alicia McManus, Nicole McManus and Michaela McManus. Along with his brother TImothy McManus, his wife Marcia, his niece Renee and his grandchildren Lily, Thomas, Giavanna, Tucker and Carter.

Michael was born in Buffalo, moved to California for 9 years where he spent his younger years. He returned to Buffalo and finished out his high school years at Williamsville South High School. There he enjoyed a wrestling career that led to the famous "You finally get your picture in the paper and all you see is your rear end" as his mother would say.

He walked many paths in his life from street racing, stock car racing, certified scuba diver, cross country truck driver that helped him achieve seeing all 50 states and father to many. His heart always lied with the love he had for cars. This love was inspired by his father, who owned his own shop in California, who taught him how to fix everything. This led to his collection of many cars including his corvette to all his mustangs...even a Shelby. If it went fast, including his motorcycles, he was driving it.

He also had a long career as a Chief Engineer of a TV station. This included many trips to his transmitter, which led to even more stories about them. He was always trying to fix anything he could.

At the end of his journey he was surrounded by the love of all of his children. May his journey continue through the legacy of those left behind.

I have been trying to reach "Mick" since early September. He last wrote me around August 2nd on his way west or south? and asked me if I needed him to pick up or deliver anything for me. I didn't at the time. But a few weeks later I did. I texted him. I called but heard nothing which is very unlike him. I feared the worst. And now, I am so sad and sorry to read this.

For the last few years, Mick who I met by chance looking for someone to take something to my daughter in Portland, OR has been picking and delivering things around the country for my husband and me. While we didn't know him well, he was so very nice to us. He was interesting and funny and trustworthy and kind. We will miss our lovely encounters with him. Our sincerest condolences to his family.
