WINTER, John Albert (aged 93), passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023. John, known affectionately as Jack, was born in his family home in Eggertsville, NY on March 17, 1930, to his parents Joseph and Agnes Winter. He was married to his beloved wife Shirlee for seventy years. He now reunites with her as she predeceased him last year on February 27, 2022. John attended some college. One of his first jobs was working at his parents bar called Winters Tavern that was in Eggertsville, NY. John worked at Bell Aircraft, and was a Correctional Officer at Attica Correctional Facility. He then used his knowledge and skills of gardening and planting and became a landscaper with his own business. His clients often won awards for their gardens based on his work. He was very hardworking. He introduced the importance of gardening and landscaping to his family. His yard would often be filled with many fruits and vegetables, particularly fresh tomatoes. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He taught his grandchildren many life lessons, especially how important it was to take care of your family, explore the world, travel, have adventures, and get an education. He was a very protective and nurturing man, and beloved and cherished by his grandchildren. John was a great dancer and loved dancing with his wife. He certainly had the moves. He had a sweet tooth, cared and provided for his family, and loved traveling the world with his wife, and being a snowbird in Florida with his wife. John and Shirlee enjoyed dancing to jazz, blues and country western music at Wilson Boathouse, Elmwood Lounge, River Grill and Denise and Dwane Holl's Sportsmen Tavern. They traveled across the USA, Canada, and Europe several times and enjoyed many winters in Jensen Beach, Florida. Predeceased in death by two sisters, Grace and Ethel, and three brothers, Harold, Joseph, and Frederic. He is survived by two sons, Daniel J (Mary Beth) Winter and Shawn J (Antonella) Winter, granddaughter, Anne E Perry, grandson, David J Winter, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
