Schalk, James Joseph (Emblem of Knights of St. John) - April 24, 2021 - Age 87 - Loving husband of 62 years to Helen M. (nee Richardson) Schalk. Father of Michael Schalk, Mary (Donald) Curley and Ann Marie (Patrick) Sweeney. Grandfather of Madeline, Liam, Finian and Leo Sweeney. Step-grandfather of Eric Curley. Son of the late Herman and Margaret (nee Bechtel) Schalk. Brother of the late Richard H. Schalk. Brother-in-law of Margaret (late Robert) Manzella and Linda Schalk. Uncle of six nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 911 Englewood Ave. on Friday, April 30th from 4 to 7 PM. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Infant of Prague Church (921 Cleveland Dr. Cheektowaga, NY 14225) on Saturday, May 1st at 9:30 AM. Please assemble at Church. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. James was a vereran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of St. John Commanderies 13 and 135 and was a longtime member of the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society.
